The Daily Uniform Got an Update

I hate to admit this, but I pretty much wear a t-shirt and flip flops every single day.  I have an excuse though, I'm trying to avoid wrecking my nice cloths when I'm making jewelry, cooking, or working on a big house project.    I've pretty much  ruined every shirt I own with grease, glue, and red sauce.  Plus, I'm on a big diet, and I don't want to buy new cloths until I'm "half the person I used to be."   Right now, I'm only one third of the person I used to be.   But I'm happy about that.

Today however, I decided to switch things up thanks to Jennifer at the Pleated Poppy.  I started out with the standard uniform:  American Eagle t-shirt, Calvin Kline jeans from Cost-co (yes, I buy jeans at Cost-co), and no shoes.

Then I added a few of my Anthropologie treasures, all items I bought on sale:   A pair of grey flats, and a gray and orange cardigan.   (I could move right into that store and live.  I love it that much -- especially the sale room.)

I put on jewelry, which rarely happens.  Pretty funny huh, since I design and sell jewelry.  I wore my favorite Crystal B button necklace, and my favorite Crystal B vintage rose earrings.  I'm glad I saved a pair for myself because I can't get those vintage Lucite flowers anymore.

I topped it off with a flower headband.  Also Crystal B.

And, I ended up with this . . . .

A step up from the standard uniform.  Thanks Pleated Poppy for making me work a little harder at looking nice today.  It will pay off.  I have a meeting this afternoon with a troop of Boy Scouts.  (As if they will even notice.)

I was just thinking today, while doing dishes, that I hate feeling so sloppy in my hoodie and sweats all day, almost every day. I have determined to get up before the kids every day, shower, and put real clothes on so I can feel like I'm actually alive during the day. It's that getting up before the kids part that's so hard for me. i prefer to use them as human alarm clocks.

You sure look cute though! I have never even seen an Anthropology store. Must seek one out.

I'm starting to think we have a lot in common!

Today I'm sporting my CK jeans (bought them at Goodwill though) a fitted tee, cardi and some flats and yes I consider this "dressing up" or something different than my uniform which sadly is PJ’s when I’m working from home (I’m a photographer). I went shopping with my future mother-in-law today and I wanted to look nice for her. It worked because she noticed! I too am on a BIG diet and not wanting to buy clothes until I lose weight. So far I’m down 30 but I have a lot more to go.

Ps...I'm hosting a girls only PJ party/game night at my house this weekend. I'm planning on making cupcakes. I'm totally going to IKEA to snatch up that awesome cupcake pan you blogged about. I'll need to hide it from my fiancé though. I have wayyyy too many muffin tins as is but that one I NEED. Oh and I have the same littlebrown basket you bought on IKEA trip only I use mine as a prop.

See what I’m saying…..LOTS in common!

I don't feel like doing WIWW until I don't have kids at home. I like being lazy and boring!

Crystal, my friend. You look fabulous! Keep up the good work. And, I also desperately need a wardrobe intervention. I hate, h-a-t-e, hate to shop for clothes!

You seriously crack me up. I also love the cupboard open in the back of the picture with a box of honey bunches of oats showing. Hopefully, your kids did not put it back empty. LOL! You have a great sense of humor thank you for sharing it.
